Spiny Fan Cactus

Succulent type: Stem succulent (Stores water in its stem)

This modest-sized cactus grows up to 29 feet (8.8 meters) tall. It splits at the base to form 2 fan-like stems. Each stem is dark brown, and is dotted with small brown spines. The cuboid body is brown, and is covered in thick bunches of rigid grey spines.

It is quick growing, taking 5 months to reach maturity. Once mature, a single flower with solid beige petals and an aquamarine central disk grows at the top, reappearing every year. The flower head is made up of handfuls of petals in raised layers. It has a mildly strong scent that smells like glue.

The cactus's skin is nearly impenetrable, the brown flesh is rubbery, and the pink sap is thin and can cause blindness if consumed.

It has impressive regenerative properties.
It is almost impossible to grow from cuttings.
It is suitable for use as a construction material
The entire flower is edible and overwhelmingly sour.
