Violet Smokeflower
Flower type: Perennial (Stores water in its leaves)This short flower grows up to 2 inches (5 cm) tall. Its emerald stem is thin and splits into 5 branching stems at the base, and the tiny, moss green leaves are slender, pointed with ripped edges. Many leaves grow at the base of the stem, and more leaves alternate on the stem from about halfway up, up to the flower head.
Dozens of tiny flowers grow in bunches along the stem. The flowers are 3 cm (1.2 inches) wide, with petals that are generally violet; each flower tends to be a variation of this colour. The flower head is shaped like a bowl with 12 raised, narrow petals. They are very delicate.
It has a strong scent that smells like cigarette smoke, and it has a modest amount of pollen. It is pollinated by a small species of bird and is ignored by most insect species.
It is suitable for making baskets and the like
It is difficult to kill and will quickly regrow if it falls or if its limbs are knocked off.
