This copper moss is commonly found growing in medium-sized clumps In marshes.
It is short, growing up to 3 inches (8 cm) tall. It forms in large clumps and they spread and grow quickly, and is extremely robust; it is very difficult to kill.
When mature, emerald spiral capsules grow at the end of short, lime green sporophytes, eventually opening up during the late summer to release hundred of spores; it does not cause many allergic reactions.

It is suitable for making paper
It absorbs an exceptionally large amount of water each day.
The colour changes depends on whether the soil is acidic or alkaline.
