Magentafern

This small flower grows up to 2 inches (5 cm) tall. Its washed-out red stem is very thin, and the tiny, pink-red leaves are needle-like with irregular edges. The leaves alternate on the stem from about halfway up, up to the flower head.

6 to 10 tiny flowers grow on alternate sides up the length of the stem. The flowers are 4 cm (1.6 inches) wide, with each petal a slightly different shade of magenta. The flower head is an uncoordinated mess of up to 60 curved petals. They are sturdy.

It has a weak scent that smells like bonfire smoke, and it has very little pollen, but can cause severe allergic reactions. It is pollinated by a small species of bird, but is also visited by a variety of insects.
