Bloodvine

Shrub type: Deciduous (Stores water in its stem)

This large shrub grows up to 6 feet (1.8 meters) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 174 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has dozens of wide, twisting stems covered in cracked, brown and grey bark, and the wood inside is light brown.

The branches are long and thin with thousands of twigs that and are covered with small bunches of miniature, long, narrow, leaves with ripped edges. The leaves themselves are red and blood red, flexible and smooth.

It produces thick bunches of giant, faded purple flowers with needle-like petals with a trumpet-shaped floral cup. They are very delicate and have a fairly strong scent that smells like pine needles. In midwinter it forms smallslate berries.

It grows well in the sun and full shade.
It is suitable for creating fine, soft textiles
It coexists peacefully with other plants.
