Blackwood

This short tree grows up to 3 meters (9.8 feet) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 146 years old. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a sturdy, straight trunk covered in hard, silky, black bark, and inside, the hard wood is burgundy-brown.

The abundance of branches are long, thin and wispy, covered with very large amounts of huge, gray-green needles. The needles themselves are durable.

In late summer it produces tiny, lime, winged seeds that spin and fall nearby.

The roots are shallow and grow straight down, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with grassy ground between them.
