Violet

Fruit Tree type: Coniferous (Grows upwards by clinging to almost any surface.)

This big fruit tree grows up to 21 feet (6.4 meters) tall and lives for up to 15 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 21 years old. It is somewhat resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a long and flexible, straight trunk covered in thin, waxy, dark brown bark, and inside, the light wood is pine-coloured.

The numerous branches are short stubs and are covered with large amounts of miniature, slender, pointed leaves with irregular edges. The leaves themselves are violet and azure.

In early spring, it produces dozens of giant, purple blossoms with 6 shield-shaped shaped petals. They detach easily and have an intensely strong scent that smells like glue.

In late autumn it produces tiny, circular fruit. The smooth blue skin is tough and edible when cooked; it is bitter and sour, and the soft lime flesh is spicy and very juicy. The muted green seeds are large and are scattered throughout the fruit.

The roots are shallow and widely spread, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.

It is almost impossible to grow indoors.
It is suitable for making strong rope
