Copperwood
Tree type: Coniferous (Stores water in its leaves)This short tree grows up to 2 meters (6.6 feet) tall and lives "forever", with many known specimens being tens of thousands of years old. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.
It has a wide, wavy trunk covered in waxy, dark brown bark, and inside, the hard wood is copper-coloured.
The abundance of branches are very short and slender, with hundreds of twigs covered with small bunches of tiny, gold or cream needles. The needles themselves are hardy.
In late summer it produces medium-sized, cream, winged seeds that float and land far away.
The roots are shallow and widely spread, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.
Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with patches of undergrowth between them.
It is said to be able to live for hundreds of years.
It is suitable for creating strong, durable textiles
