Pinkleaf Fern

This small shrub grows up to 1 foot (30.5 cm) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 200 years old. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.

It has many stocky, straight stems covered in silky, brown-green speckled bark, and the wood inside is gray.

The branches are short, rigid and upright with dozens of twigs that and are covered with large amounts of tiny, very thin, leaves with ripped edges. The leaves themselves are either pink, or lime with amber zig-zags, flimsy and waxy.

It produces lots of small, olive flowers with 6 shield-shaped shaped petals. They are sturdy and have a mildly strong scent that smells like chocolate. In mid-summer it forms medium-sizedpurple aril (seeds with fleshy covers).
