Orangefruit Tree

This modest-sized fruit tree grows up to 14 feet (4.3 meters) tall and lives for up to 45 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 79 years old. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.

It has a wide, wonky trunk covered in fine, waxy, yellow-brown bark, and inside, the medium-dense wood is light brown.

The numerous branches are tall, rigid and upright and are covered with very large amounts of small, oval-shaped leaves with wavy edges. The leaves themselves are florescent yellow on the sides and deep orange at the center.

In early spring, it produces bunches of medium-sized, orange blossoms with 6 circular shaped petals. They are sturdy and have a scent that varies in strength that smells like damp.

In late summer it produces tiny, long, curved fruit. The soft purple skin is thick and sweet, and the very soft florescent yellow flesh is salty and powdery. The lime seeds are large and are scattered throughout the fruit.

The roots are shallow and grow straight down, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.
