It takes 4 months for the lime green stems to mature, by which point they sometimes have a diameter of 1 cm (0.4 inches) and are soft and flexible.
The finger-like, fuzzy leaves reach up to 6 inches (15 cm) in length. They are solid black with amber edges, and have ripped edges.
During late spring, the creeper produces thousands of large beige flowers, and during the late autumn, after flowering, it produces excessive amounts of tiny berries.
It is suitable for making baskets and the like
The seeds are toxic to people but not to certain animals.
