Gray Moss

This gray moss is commonly found blanketing small areas On rotten logs, and In heathlands.
It is huge, growing up to 10 inches (25 cm) tall. It forms in large clumps and they spread and grow quickly, and is very sturdy.
When mature, emerald shield-shaped capsules grow at the end of short, lime green sporophytes, eventually opening up during the early winter to release hundred of spores.
