Silverfern

This large tree grows up to 76 meters (249.4 feet) tall and lives "forever", with many known specimens being tens of thousands of years old. It is not very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a sturdy, curved trunk covered in very thick, knobbly, silver and white bark, and inside, the very hard wood is pine-coloured.

The branches are tall, rigid and upright, covered with large amounts of giant, green needles. The needles themselves are resilient.

In late summer it produces giant, faded orange, winged seeds that spin and fall nearby.

The roots are thick and spread across the surface, as well as underground, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with patches of undergrowth between them.
