Gray Moss

This gray moss is commonly found blanketing small areas In moorlands, and On rotten logs.
It is short, growing up to 2 inches (5 cm) tall. It forms in sparse patches, and is extremely flimsy; it dislikes being stepped on.
When mature, emerald flame-shaped capsules grow at the end of short, lime green sporophytes, eventually opening up during the late summer to release thousands of spores; it can cause allergic reactions.
