Scarlet Gem Moss

This red moss is commonly found blanketing small areas In heathlands.
It is short, growing up to 1 inch (3 cm) tall. It forms in thin clumps and they overwhelm an area rapidly, and is overwhelmingly delicate.
When mature, emerald teardrop-shaped capsules grow at the end of elongated, lime green sporophytes, eventually opening up during the early autumn to release dozens of spores.
