Amber

This small leaf succulent grows up to 12 feet (3.7 meters) tall. The very thick stem is red, and is covered in sharp spines. The rounded leaves are amber and aquamarine. Sparse amounts of them grow on stumpy, gray branches that trail down to the ground. The leaves are resistant, and do not detach easily.

It is very slow growing, taking 25 years to reach maturity. Once mature, and only under the right conditions, several flowers with petals that are brilliant purple on the edges and slate at the center grow at the top, reappearing after 3 years, but only when the conditions are right again. The flower head is shaped like a dish made up of 8 widely spaced, narrow petals. It has an overpowering scent that smells like roses.

The leaf succulent's skin is rock-hard, the brilliant purple flesh is smooth, and the sky blue sap is thin.
