Blood Rose

Flower type: Annual (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)

This modest-sized flower grows up to 1.7 feet (51 cm) tall. Its gray stem is wispy, and the tiny, emerald leaves are dark caramel and brown on the underside and are kidney-shaped with toothed edges. Many leaves grow at the base of the stem, and a pair of leaves grow at the base of the flower head.

4 to 8 giant flowers grow on alternate sides up the length of the stem. The flowers are 41 cm (16.1 inches) wide, with alternating petals of blood red and red, with a magenta central disk. The flower head is largely flat with 39 raised narrow petals. They are sturdy.

It has a scent whose strength depends on external factors, such as soil quality and rain frequency that smells like roses, and it has an average amount of pollen; it does not cause any allergic reactions. It is pollinated by insects and is particularly attractive to butterflies.

The bark is frequently covered in moss.
The seeds are toxic to people but not to certain animals.
