Sunburst

This giant flower grows up to 12.8 feet (3.9 meters) tall. Its amber stem is wispy, and the tiny, gray-green and slate leaves are pleated with smooth edges. Many leaves grow along the entire length of the stem.

A single giant flower sits at the end of each stem. The flowers are 93 cm (36.6 inches) wide, with solid florescent yellow petals decorated with intense blue lines and a blood red central disk. The flower head is made up of dozens of petals; the lower layer of petals are flat, while the upper layers form a tight star. They are hardy.

It has a strong scent that smells like ashes, and it has very little pollen; it can cause allergic reactions. It is pollinated by a small species of bird, but is also particularly attractive to butterflies.
