Azureberry

This modest-sized fruit tree grows up to 15 feet (4.6 meters) tall and lives for up to 30 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 64 years old. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a sturdy, wonky trunk covered in fine, wrinkled, burgundy and brown bark, and inside, the flexible wood is gray.

The sparse amount of branches are very short and thin and are covered with small bunches of giant, very thick leaves with jagged edges. The leaves themselves are either gentle blue or azure, with beige splotches.

In early spring, it produces thousands of giant, slate blossoms with wide petals with a bell-shaped floral cup. They are sturdy and have a delicate scent that smells like old books.

In early autumn it produces tiny, long, tapering fruit. The leathery yellow skin is peel-able and bland, and the slightly crunchy slate flesh is salty and very dry. The white seed is large and is in the centre of the fruit.

The roots are fine and grow in a large web, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with the space between filled with undergrowth.
