Copper Starflower

Flower type: Perennial (Stores water in its stem)

This average-sized flower grows up to 1.9 feet (58 cm) tall. Its emerald stem is thick and splits into 6 branching stems at the top, and the miniature, copper leaves are light lime green on the underside and are 4 pointed with smooth edges. The leaves alternate on the stem from the base up to about halfway.

A single medium-sized flower sits at the end of each stem. The flowers are 15 cm (5.9 inches) wide, with alternating petals of red and azure, with a peach central disk. The flower head is shaped like a star made up of handfuls of raised, round-tipped petals. They fall easily.

It has an intensely strong scent that smells like paint, and it has an average amount of pollen; it does not cause many allergic reactions. It is pollinated by the wind, but is also particularly attractive to bees.


It is suitable for making baskets and the like
