Copperberry

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Grows along the ground or other low surfaces.)

This modest-sized fruit tree grows up to 13 feet (4.0 meters) tall and lives for up to 15 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 23 years old. It is somewhat resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a long and flexible, crooked trunk covered in delicate, silky, copper-coloured bark, and inside, the hard wood is brown.

The excessive amount of branches are very long and slender and are covered with large amounts of huge, very thick leaves with wavy edges. The leaves themselves are a shade of gray-green that gradient shifts to indigo at the top.

In early spring, it produces thousands of small, blood red blossoms with flame-shaped shaped petals. They are sturdy and have a delicate scent that smells like coffee.

In late autumn it produces tiny, oblong fruit. The soft caramel skin is tough and inedible, and the crunchy slate flesh is sweet and very dry. The hazel seeds are large and are located in the centre of the fruit.

The roots are thick and spread across the surface, as well as underground, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with the space between filled with undergrowth.

Their seeds have hallucinogenic properties.
It is suitable for creating flexible, durable textiles
