Indigo Petal

Flower type: Biennial (Grows upwards by winding itself around other objects and plants.)

This small flower grows up to 6 inches (15 cm) tall. Its yellow-green stem is thin, and the large, green leaves are thick with rounded edges. Many leaves grow at the base of the stem, and more leaves grow in pairs along the length of the stem.

2 to 8 large flowers grow on alternate sides up the length of the stem. The flowers are 3 cm (1.2 inches) wide, with petals that are either dark grey or indigo, with a yellow center. The flower head is an uncoordinated mess of 48 curved petals. They are hardy.

It has a fairly strong scent that smells like warm cookies, and it has very little pollen. It is pollinated by insects and is enjoyed by several specific types of insect.

A particular bird species likes to nest in it.
It absorbs an exceptionally large amount of water each day.
