Blueberry Tree

This small fruit tree grows up to 5 feet (1.5 meters) tall and lives for up to 25 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 61 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has a knobbly, crooked trunk covered in paper-thin, cracked, silver bark, and inside, the flexible wood is yellow.

The excessive amount of branches are short, thin and wispy and are covered with very large amounts of small, slender, pointed leaves with toothed edges. The leaves themselves are blue and ashy blue.

In early spring, it produces a thick sheet of tiny, aquamarine blossoms with 6 cylindrical shaped petals. They detach easily and have a weak scent that smells like citrus.

In early summer it produces , triangular fruit. The hairy gentle green skin is thin and inedible, and the crunchy light purple flesh is spicy and salty and very juicy. The light grey seeds are large and are bunched at the bottom of the fruit.

The roots are thick and spread across the surface, as well as underground, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with the space between filled with undergrowth.
