Cinnamon

This average-sized fruit tree grows up to 13 feet (4.0 meters) tall and lives for up to 25 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 46 years old. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.

It has a very thick, straight trunk covered in cracked, brown-green speckled bark, and inside, the very dense wood is pine-coloured.

The sparse patches of branches are short stubs and are covered with copious amounts of miniature, long, tapering leaves with serrated edges. The leaves themselves are orange on the sides and brown at the center.

In early spring, it produces many giant, amber blossoms with 4 pointed petals with a tube-like floral cup. They fall easily and have an overpowering scent that smells like baby powder.

In early summer it produces very large, long, tapering fruit. The crispy ashy red skin is thin and spicy, and the crunchy orange flesh is sweet and very dry. The light brown seed is very large and sits at the top of the fruit.

The roots are shallow and grow straight down, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with clear space between them.
