Copperfern

This colossal tree grows up to 121 meters (397.0 feet) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 172 years old. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.

It has a slender, wonky trunk covered in thin, ridged, dark gray bark, and inside, the dense wood is pale yellow.

The sparse amount of branches are very short and thin and are covered with handfuls of clammy, miniature, spear shaped leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are solid florescent green or copper, with bronze streaks.

In early spring, it produces a handful of tiny, lilac blossoms with wide petals with a trumpet-shaped floral cup. They fall easily and have an intense scent that smells like misty mornings.

In late summer it forms medium-sized, caramel, spiky-shelled seeds.

The roots are thick and spread across the surface, as well as underground, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with the space between filled with undergrowth.
