Magenta Fruit Tree

This small fruit tree grows up to 6 feet (1.8 meters) tall and lives for up to 15 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 20 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has a long and flexible, straight trunk covered in hard, silky, pine-coloured bark, and inside, the dense wood is yellow-brown.

The excessive amount of branches are long, thin and wispy and are covered with small amounts of miniature, long, tapering leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are subtle blue on the edges and magenta at the center.

In early spring, it produces large amounts of small, pink blossoms with triangular shaped petals. They are sturdy and have a mildly strong scent that smells like varnish.

In mid-summer it produces tiny, long, tapering fruit. The clammy olive skin is peel-able and inedible, and the very soft grey flesh is bitter and sour and syrupy. The black seeds are large and are located in the centre of the fruit.

The roots form a tightly packed ball, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.
