Silverfern

Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in its stem)

This small tree grows up to 4 meters (13.1 feet) tall and lives for centuries, with the oldest known specimen being around 334 years old. It is somewhat resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a sturdy, straight trunk covered in very thick, ridged, brown-green bark, and inside, the light wood is gray.

The branches are short stubs and are covered with small amounts of rough, tiny, stiff, pointed leaves with wavy edges. The leaves themselves are solid silver with purple splotches.

In late summer it forms tiny, vibrant yellow, winged seeds that spin and fall nearby.

The roots are shallow and grow straight down, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with clear space between them.

It is difficult to kill and will quickly regrow if it falls or if its limbs are knocked off.
It is suitable for creating strong, durable textiles
