Silverbrush

This average-sized shrub grows up to 2 feet (61.0 cm) tall and lives for around 37 years. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.

It has several knobbly, straight stems covered in silky, light gray bark, and the wood inside is pale brown-grey.

The branches trail down towards the ground with hundreds of twigs that and are covered with very large amounts of miniature, asymmetrical, leaves with tattered edges. The leaves themselves are olive and silver, rigid and leathery.

In early summer it produces thousands of tiny, blue blossoms with stiff, pointed petals with a trumpet-shaped floral cup. They detach easily and have a weak scent that smells like something putrid.

In early winter cuboid fruits ripen. The soft peach skin is tough and inedible, and the slightly crunchy grey flesh is sweet and sour and powdery. The bold orange seeds are tiny and are bunched at the top of the fruit.
