Speckled

Shrub type: Deciduous (Stores water in its leaves)

This average-sized shrub grows up to 4 feet (1.2 meters) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 173 years old. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has many long and flexible, straight stems covered in smooth, white with black speckled bark, and the wood inside is gray.

The branches are very long, thin and wispy with dozens of twigs that and are covered with copious amounts of small, very thin, leaves with rounded edges. The leaves themselves are light brown and white, resilient and leathery.

In early spring it produces bunches of medium-sized, peach blossoms with circular shaped petals. They detach easily and have a scent that varies in strength that smells like mango.

In midwinter tiny broad, flat fruits ripen. The sticky purple skin is thick and inedible, and the very soft copper flesh is sweet and bitter and very dry. The cream seeds are tiny and are located in the centre of the fruit.
