Serpentine Cypress

This modest-sized shrub grows up to 2 feet (61.0 cm) tall and lives for around 40 years. It is somewhat resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has several knobbly, curved stems covered in very thick, waxy, copper-coloured bark, and the wood inside is burgundy-brown.

The branches trail down across the ground that and are covered with large amounts of huge, spear shaped, leaves with irregular edges. The leaves themselves are olive with aquamarine tips, delicate and smooth.

In early spring it produces many clusters of giant, hazel flowers with V-shaped shaped petals. They are hardy and have a scent whose strength depends on external factors, such as soil quality and rain frequency that smells like cheap aftershave.
