Coniapple Tree

Fruit Tree type: Coniferous (Grows along the ground or other low surfaces.)

This big fruit tree grows up to 25 feet (7.6 meters) tall and lives for up to 20 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 42 years old. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.

It has a narrow, straight trunk covered in waxy, silver bark, and inside, the very dense wood is burgundy-brown.

The branches are short and thin and are covered with handfuls of giant, spear shaped leaves with toothed edges. The leaves themselves are hazel at the bottom and aquamarine with violet dots at the top.

In early spring, it produces large amounts of small, hazel blossoms with umbrella-shaped shaped petals. They are sturdy and have a weak scent that smells like coconut.

In early summer it produces small, long, straight fruit. The soft amber skin is delicate and edible when roasted; it is salty, and the very soft magenta flesh is spicy and dry. The red seeds are tiny and are dotted around on the skin of the fruit.

The roots are shallow and widely spread, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.

It is said to be able to live for hundreds of years.
