Crimson Tree

This modest-sized tree grows up to 60 meters (196.9 feet) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 142 years old. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.

It has a narrow, straight trunk covered in hard, smooth, brown and grey bark, and inside, the light wood is burgundy-brown.

The small handful of branches are very short and thin and are covered with thick bunches of smooth, tiny, long, narrow leaves with toothed edges. The leaves themselves are either silver, or beige with ashy yellow dots.

In early spring, it produces copious amounts of tiny, crimson blossoms with fan-like petals with a bell-shaped floral cup. They fall easily and have a weak scent that smells like coffee.

In late summer it forms medium-sized, grey berries.

The roots are fine and grow in a large web, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.
