Burgundy.

This small shrub grows up to 1 foot (30.5 cm) tall and lives for around 46 years. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has dozens of very thick, twisting stems covered in ridged, burgundy bark, and the wood inside is pale yellow.

The branches trail down across the ground with dozens of twigs that and are covered with small bunches of miniature, slender, pointed, leaves with serrated edges. The leaves themselves are gentle green with pink tips, strong and covered in fine hairs.

In mid-summer it produces lots of small, purple blossoms with circular petals. They are hardy and have a mildly strong scent that smells like fish.

In mid-autumn very large perforated fruits ripen. The waxy brown skin is delicate and inedible, and the very soft white flesh is bitter and sticky. The hazel seed is very large and sits at the top of the fruit.
