Copperfruit Tree

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by clinging to almost any surface.)

This average-sized fruit tree grows up to 20 feet (6.1 meters) tall and lives for up to 30 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 63 years old. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a slender, straight trunk covered in fine, wrinkled, yellow-brown bark, and inside, the very dense wood is copper-coloured.

The sparse amount of branches are very long and thin and are covered with copious amounts of giant, very thick leaves with irregular edges. The leaves themselves are green and silver.

In early spring, it produces hundreds of medium-sized, yellow blossoms with long, narrow petals with a bell-shaped floral cup. They fall easily and have the faintest scent that smells like chocolate.

In mid-autumn it produces tiny, oblong fruit. The leathery cream skin is peel-able and edible when roasted; it is sweet and bitter, and the soft pink flesh is sweet and powdery. The subtle red seed is small and is in the centre of the fruit.

The roots are thick and spread across the surface, as well as underground, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.

It is said to be able to live for hundreds of years.
