Violetvine

Shrub type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by winding itself around other objects and plants.)

This short shrub grows up to 1 foot (30.5 cm) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 143 years old. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.

It has numerous wide, straight stems covered in waxy, black with white speckled bark, and the wood inside is silver.

The branches are tall, rigid and upright that and are covered with large amounts of miniature, stiff, pointed, leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are found in violet and pastel green varieties, sturdy and soft.

In late spring it produces many clusters of medium-sized, violet blossoms with needle-like petals. They are hardy and have a delicate scent that smells like faeces.

In mid-autumn small stiff, pointed fruits ripen. The smooth amber skin is delicate and edible when boiled; it is sweet, and the very soft light blue flesh is sweet and very dry. The bronze seeds are small and are bunched at the bottom of the fruit.

It absorbs an exceptionally large amount of water each day.
