Indigo Spiralvine

This giant flower grows up to 11.6 feet (3.5 meters) tall. Its sky blue stem is very thick and straight with a curved tip, and the miniature, red leaves are 2 pointed with tattered edges. A pair of leaves grow at the base of the flower head.

2 to 5 tiny flowers grow on alternate sides up the length of the stem. The flowers are 21 cm (8.3 inches) wide, with solid olive petals decorated with grey lines and a indigo central disk. The flower head is shaped like a tube made up of 9 tightly layered, round-tipped petals. They are hardy.

It has a weak scent that smells like lemon, and it has an average amount of pollen. It is pollinated by insects and is particularly attractive to butterflies.
