Silvervine

This small tree grows up to 5 meters (16.4 feet) tall and lives for centuries, with the oldest known specimen being around 535 years old. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.

It has a narrow, wonky trunk covered in waxy, silver and white bark, and inside, the very dense wood is black.

The branches are short, rigid and upright and are covered with large amounts of waxy, tiny, broad, flat leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are bold green on the edges and yellow at the center.

In early spring, it produces bunches of medium-sized, turquoise blossoms with broad, flat petals with a tube-like floral cup. They detach easily and have a scent that varies in strength that smells like sweat.

In late summer it forms large, grey, spiky-shelled seeds.

The roots are thick and spread across the surface, as well as underground, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with the space between filled with undergrowth.
