Indigo Flower

This large flower grows up to 3.2 feet (97 cm) tall. Its gray stem is thin and straight, and the huge, gray-green leaves are dark pink-red on the underside and are asymmetrical with smooth edges. The leaves alternate on the stem.

2 to 8 medium-sized flowers grow on alternate sides up the length of the stem. The flowers are 38 cm (15.0 inches) wide, with solid indigo petals decorated with turquoise dots and a sky blue central disk. The flower head is largely flat with 55 tightly layered narrow petals. They fall easily.

It has a delicate scent that smells like cigarette smoke, and it has excessive amounts of pollen, but it does not cause any allergic reactions. It is a self-pollinator.
