Azure Bowlflower

This average-sized flower grows up to 7 inches (18 cm) tall. Its azure stem is very thin, and the small, gray leaves are stiff, pointed with rounded edges. Many leaves grow along the entire length of the stem.

1 to 7 small flowers grow on alternate sides up the length of the stem. The flowers are 24 cm (9.4 inches) wide, with petals that are aquamarine on the underside and yellow on the top. The flower head is shaped like a bowl made up of several raised, narrow petals. They are hardy.

It has a strong scent that smells like skunk spray, and it has very little pollen. It is pollinated by insects , but is also visited by a small species of bird.
