Silkwood

Tree type: Deciduous (Grows along the ground or other low surfaces.)

This small tree grows up to 2 meters (6.6 feet) tall and lives for centuries, with the oldest known specimen being around 629 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has a narrow, wavy trunk covered in thin, silky, dark gray bark, and inside, the soft wood is pale yellow.

The branches are very short and thick and are covered with handfuls of covered in fine hairs, large, V-shaped leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are a shade of moss green that gradient shifts to lime at the top.

In early spring, it produces thousands of small, hazel blossoms with 9 teardrop-shaped shaped petals. They are hardy and have a delicate scent that smells like varnish.

In late summer it forms medium-sized, orange, spiky-shelled seeds.

The roots grow as a near perfect mirror of the tree above, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with clear space between them.

It is suitable for creating flexible, durable textiles
