Cinnamon

Fruit Tree type: Coniferous (Grows upwards by clinging to almost any surface.)

This modest-sized fruit tree grows up to 13 feet (4.0 meters) tall and lives for up to 30 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 82 years old. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a branched, twisting trunk covered in waxy, pine-coloured bark, and inside, the very hard wood is white with black speckles.

The branches trail down across the ground and are covered with small amounts of miniature, fan-like leaves with serrated edges. The leaves themselves are a shade of moss green that gradient shifts to lime at the top.

In early spring, it produces dozens of small, gentle orange blossoms with flame-shaped shaped petals. They are very delicate and have a mildly strong scent that smells like cinnamon.

In late autumn it produces , circular fruit. The sticky hazel skin is peel-able and bitter and spicy, and the soft slate flesh is sweet and syrupy. The blood red seed is tiny and is in the centre of the fruit.

The roots are shallow and widely spread, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with the space between filled with undergrowth.

It is suitable for creating tough, hard-wearing textiles
