Violet Fruit Tree

This giant fruit tree grows up to 63 feet (19.2 meters) tall and lives for up to 45 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 76 years old. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a long and flexible, angular trunk covered in delicate, rough, black bark, and inside, the very light wood is gray.

The branches are short, thin and wispy and are covered with large amounts of giant, wispy leaves with serrated edges. The leaves themselves are solid hazel or blue, with violet lines.

In early spring, it produces several tiny, grey blossoms with finger-like petals with a trumpet-shaped floral cup. They are very delicate and have an overpowering scent that smells like fish.

In late summer it produces small, broad, flat fruit. The waxy light brown skin is thin and inedible, and the very soft slate flesh is sour and very dry. The dark grey seed is large and sits at the end of the fruit.

The roots are thick and spread across the surface, as well as underground, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.
