Azure Starflower

Flower type: Perennial (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)

This small flower grows up to 6 inches (15 cm) tall. Its gray stem is thin and straight with a curved tip, and the miniature, gray-green leaves are slender, pointed with ripped edges. Many leaves grow at the base of the stem, and more leaves grow in pairs along the length of the stem.

Around 40 tiny flowers grow in bunches along the stem. The flowers are 2 cm (0.8 inches) wide, with dark green petals on the lower layer and muted blue petals decorated with azure dots on the inner layer. The central disk is lime. The flower head is shaped like a star with 4 tightly layered, round-tipped petals. They are very delicate.

It has a strong scent that smells like roses, and it has a fair amount of pollen; it does not cause many allergic reactions. It is pollinated by the wind.

It is very rare outside of a particular area.
Once on fire, it burns very quickly.
It is suitable for making strong rope
