Flower type: Perennial (Stores water in its leaves)This massive flower grows up to 9.3 feet (2.8 meters) tall. Its lime green or green stem is thin and splits into 3 branching stems halfway up, and the large, copper leaves are dark green on the underside and are heart-shaped with irregular edges. Many leaves grow along the entire length of the stem.
6 to 12 medium-sized flowers grow on alternate sides up the length of the stem. The flowers are 37 cm (14.6 inches) wide, with solid white petals and a beige central disk. The flower head is shaped like a bowl with 13 widely spaced, narrow petals. They are hardy.
It has a strong scent that smells like candle wax, and it has an average amount of pollen; it can cause allergic reactions. It is a self-pollinator, but is also particularly attractive to butterflies.
The sap is yellow.
The sap is edible and slightly spicy.
