Moss Green Petal Flower

This short flower grows up to 3 inches (8 cm) tall. Its green stem is very thick and straight, and the large, yellow-green leaves are dark moss green on the underside and are fan-like with tattered edges. The leaves alternate on the stem.

Two medium-sized flowers sit at the end of each stem. The flowers are 10 cm (3.9 inches) wide, with solid black petals decorated with ashy green dots and a beige central disk. The flower head is shaped like a dish made up of 6 widely spaced, round-tipped petals. They detach easily.

It has an overpowering scent that smells like lavender, and it has a fair amount of pollen; it does not cause any allergic reactions. It is pollinated by a small species of bird, but is also visited by one species of insect in particular.
