Bloodwood

This short tree grows up to 2 meters (6.6 feet) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 120 years old. It is not very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a thick, straight trunk covered in knobbly, white with black speckled bark, and inside, the medium-dense wood is burgundy-brown.

The abundance of branches are very short and thin and are covered with large amounts of smooth, large, perforated leaves with irregular edges. The leaves themselves are brown and blood red.

In late summer it forms medium-sized, green, tough-shelled seeds.

The roots are shallow and grow straight down, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with the space between filled with undergrowth.
