Crimson Vine

This large flower grows up to 6.1 feet (1.9 meters) tall. Its pink-red stem is very thin, and the tiny, gray or azure leaves are sickle shaped with wavy edges. Many leaves grow at the base of the stem, and a pair of leaves grow at the base of the flower head.

A single large flower sits at the end of the stem. The flowers are 69 cm (27.2 inches) wide, with each petal a slightly different shade of cream. The flower head is shaped like a tube with 47 widely spaced, narrow petals. They fall easily.

It has an overpowering scent that smells like alcohol, and it has a modest amount of pollen. It is pollinated by insects and is visited by a large variety of them.
