Blackberry Tree

Fruit Tree type: Coniferous (Grows along the ground or other low surfaces.)

This big fruit tree grows up to 37 feet (11.3 meters) tall and lives for up to 30 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 79 years old. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a slender, straight trunk covered in very thick, smooth, brown bark, and inside, the soft wood is yellow-brown.

The branches trail down to the ground and are covered with thick bunches of miniature, long, tapering leaves with rounded edges. The leaves themselves are a shade of black that gradient shifts to vivid purple at the top.

In early spring, it produces hundreds of large, hazel blossoms with slender, pointed petals. They are sturdy and have a delicate scent that smells like glue.

In late autumn it produces , perforated fruit. The fuzzy cream skin is thick and inedible, and the crunchy blue flesh is sweet and dry. The black seed is small and sits at the end of the fruit.

The roots are thick and spread across the surface, as well as underground, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.

It is difficult to kill and will quickly regrow if it falls or if its limbs are knocked off.
