Copperleaf

Shrub type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by winding itself around other objects and plants.)

This short shrub grows up to 1 foot (30.5 cm) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 146 years old. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has numerous narrow, crooked stems covered in very thick, wrinkled, dark brown bark, and the wood inside is copper-coloured.

The branches are short stubs with dozens of twigs that and are covered with handfuls of giant, heart-shaped, leaves with tattered edges. The leaves themselves are hazel with azure tips, strong and soft.

It produces handfuls of large, magenta flowers with crescent-shaped shaped petals. They are hardy and have a delicate scent that smells like cheap aftershave. In early autumn it forms medium-sizeddark yellow, spiky-shelled seeds.

It is suitable for creating fine, soft textiles
It absorbs an exceptionally large amount of water each day.
The sap is edible and extremely savoury.
