Blue Succulent

This short leaf succulent grows up to 4 feet (1.2 meters) tall. The thick stem is yellow, and is covered in sharp spines. The stocky leaves are generally deep blue. Small amounts of them grow on round, lilac branches that are short and thick. The leaves are hardy, but are very difficult to pull away.

It is slow growing, taking 10 years to reach maturity. Once mature, and only under the right conditions, a handful of flowers, with each petal a slightly different shade of red, grow at the top, reappearing after 6 years, but only when the conditions are right again. The flower head is made up of several petals; the lower layer of petals are flat, while the upper layers form a tight cup. It has a faint scent that smells like onion.

The leaf succulent's skin is extremely thick, the pink flesh is waxy, and the bronze sap is thin and causes vomiting if consumed.
